This place is always jam-packed when we go by so my wife and I thought we would try it out. Very cramped and crowded as you wait in line to work your way to the icecream counter, but this is because they have so much candy to offer. Prices were high but expected for the location. The real disappointment was my shake. When paying ten dollars for a shake, I was at least hoping to get a decent shake. Unfortunately I watched as they poured entirely too much milk into every shake being made and I got a runny flavored milk, instead of a milkshake. All this while the manager yelled at the employees to hurry up and mentioned that she liked one of her employees best because she didn't speak english so she couldn't talk back... I might be by to pick up some difficult to find candy, but I'll stick to other places for icecream.
After hearing how great this place is from people on Rosemary Beach I decided to go for a snow cone and ice cream with my family. After waiting in line with people weaving and pushing through the line in the crammed store we finally ordered the ice cream and 2 snow cones we wanted. The snow cones were horrible, melted and had absolutely no flavor and the ice cream was nothing spectacular by any means. I will for sure not go back to Sugar Shack and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Great place for a quick dessert or a sweet afternoon snack. The line can be intimidatingly long if you go after 8pm, but the wait is worth it. Awesome candy selection!
There is a large assortment of candy. However the place is PACKED. Also the candy at the store is overpriced. A complete rip off. I bought some shaved ice here and it tasted like medicine. I would not recommend this place.
Great vintage candy finds. All of the favorites from childhood were there. Candy necklaces, whistle pops and grape poprocks, to name a few. A bit pricy for candy, but worth the joy you get from the nostalgia.
Greeted with a smile. A delightful woman. Got the best chocolate malt! Even was given a taste of the Tabasco Chocolate- never knew it existed. Wow what a wonderful experience. Will definitely return.
Is the candy overpriced? Yes. But hey, it’s a cute little candy store and if your willing to spend a little extra for a small business then it’s a great place.
Love finding all the cool candies I grew up loving.
This is the cutest little candy shop with so many different kinds of candy and some ice cream. It's pricey but the selection is great and the kids love riding bikes down and picking up a candy treat during the day and going for ice cream at night.
The poor customer service and rudeness of the employees outweigh the products. First impression by the customer is huge for a business. This customer will not be back, and I will be passing the word on to family and friends.
This place is amazing!!! Fun for kids and adults. Be prepared to wait in line for a while though. It's not that the staff is not fast but there are usually so many people packed into that tiny place you just have to wait in line for a long time. But there's plenty to keep the kids occupied with candy from floor to ceiling. Just a great all-around place
i have loved this place for 6 years now it is the greatest candy store in all off florida
May be my least favorite place on all of 30A
Good ice cream and candy! Always came here after dinner.
It was cute but there was mostly gummies and not enough chocolate, but is decently a must visit.
Rude workers. Rasict
So many different kinds of candy!
Over priced candy that you could get anywhere. And the women working weren't very friendly either.
Cool shop and idea, however prices are through the roof and staff is pretty rude but whatever
Long lines to buy Edy’s Ice cream that I can buy for a fraction of the price at the grocery store?!?? I don’t think so. The shop is cute but after waiting in line for over 20 minutes to see that the 10 or so flavors they offer are a supermarket brand killed me. Not going back there!
The price gauging here is both grotesque and laughable. The Sugar Shak preys upon families with young children - who are placed in the no-win situation of disappointing their kids or suffering price-abuse.In addition to this, the store is woefully, needlessly understaffed. One person both serving ice cream customers one at a time and then dashing to the till to ring up the order - the entire process is painfully slow - especially given the high prices. The decor, selection, and "atomsphere" hasn't been updated in a decade - nullifying and argument that you are getting a special premium experience for your money.Instead: stop at a grocery store on your way into Rosemary Beach and stock up on favorite sweets in minutes, or a fraction of the cost.
Candy is good, really good and the ice cream is better, but still the price is so high. The sold a single sour patch kid for 25¢.
Great candy!! Josh Crippz Facebook
A cute little candy store with many varieties of candy. Only bad thing is it is packed with kids constantly.
You can't visit Rosemary Beach with kids and not go in here. They have candy galore and a great selection of desserts namely ice cream. The line can be long during lunch or after dinner so don't take the kids here if they're cranky and wiped out from the sun.
Very crowded. Prices on candy were way to expensive. Ice cream was good
Great experience for the kids. Not so much for the adults. Terrible service. Long lines with no help.
Sugar Shak is a fun place to bring kids with ice cream and all kinds of candy. Cute store but very small and crowded often during the summer season. Ice cream prices are normal but candy and T-shirt prices are very high. Still a fun place to stop in while wandering through.
Great ice cream and candy selection!
We can't go to 30a and not go at least once, the kids will not allow it. Her cool place with some old time classics as well.
Love the Sugar Shak!!! Great service and tons of options! See yall in a few weeks :)
terrible service
Had a lot of candy but there was no space to walk around to look at all of it. The long was horrendously long and went through every walkway and I coils barely walk through the door. The candy is VERY overpriced. I brought in a $20 bill because at grocery stores getting 5 things is like $10....but not here it costed like $35! I didn’t have any change on me, because a well run business should have coins after everyone giving them “exact change” but nope. The white haired lady working their had a horrible attitude and MADE me get more and more candy. She said “more candy or change” OF COURSE I WANT MY CHANGE! if I wanted more candy I would’ve grabbed on my way there... which pretty much was impossible considering the LONG LINE.I cant complain about the taste of the candy/ice cream but definitely wouldn’t come back here next time I visit😡
Edy's ice cream is not a top choice of mine. I guess it's like Pepsi vs. Coke?
Love this place when at the beach! The line is long for ice cream, sure, but that is a testament to how much people enjoy it!
Wide selection of candies, some international products and great assortment of truffles to suit the older crowd
We were here on fall break 10/7-10/16/2017. We came 2-3 times during the week for candy, ice cream, and to show some visiting guests. The entire week we were disappointed. There were 15-20 boxes and large bins covering the entire right hand side of the store blocking walkways and making it hard to maneuver looking at candy. The entire right side was blocked with boxes of T-shirts that were never but up ALSO blocking walkways. The boys behind the counter were RUDE and huffed and puffed when we asked for samples. The hot fudge on the ice cream sunday was chewy. It was a terrible experience all week. We come here every year for our family trip and this was a disappointment. Taking an entire week to clear out your inventory is unacceptable especially during a busy week and Rosemary uncorked but the bad service on top of that was enough for me to write this review! We love coming here and I hope management gets it together.
The kids love this place. Candy, chocolate, ice cream, and various other treats. If you can think of a type of candy, they probably have it.
I asked for a chocolate malt. The lady behind the counter responded, “Yeah.....I’m not making malts, shakes, or shaved ice tonight.” No explanation given even though it reads all three on the menu. Overall, it’s just a crammed ice cream shop with expensive candy and a lady that’s not making malts, milkshakes, or shaved ice. I had to settle for generic rocky road ice cream in a cake cone.
Always loved coming here. Prices can be a bit much for some items (particularly souvenirs).
Long line for Edys ice cream
So crowded with inventory...very little room for shoppers and people waiting in line. We got our ice cream and ate it while standing in line to pay. By the time we got to the register we were done with our ice cream. While yummy (Edy's is always yummy), the experience was a bit disappointing.
Awesome place, great variety of flavors and tons of candy options, kids love it
The most fun store in Rosemary Beach, candy and Ice Cream too!
Always a treat for the kids when in Rosemary. Lots of good nostalgic candy for mom and dad and everything else for kids!
Good ice cream large assortment of candy. We never leave without a t shirt.
The Sugar Shak is an institution on 30A. Located at Rosemary Beach on the beach side it is always crowded during high season. There will be a line if you go during summer months when school is out. We still always go when the kids are with us. A Sugar Shack t-shirt was a must have for the K-5 set! Plenty of sweets for all ages. The ice is just fine for kids!
The Sugar Shak is a good place for kids, but the store was very crowded. There was little space to walk and the candy was a bit pricey. We had to wait in a long line for about 10-15 minutes. It really wasn’t worth it. The staff was very rude and whenever I tried to ask them questions they had a very bad attitude. The atmosphere was okay it was just very small. I will probably never go back here.
It's just what a candy store should look like, but the prices are insane, $10 minimum for debit? Not to mention everyone in there seemed like they hated to be there, and almost no room to move
I'm 70 years old so keep that in mind when I say this place is simply a rip off. Very high priced junk candy packed into a tiny place. Nothing high quality for me to enjoy tonight.
